Perbedaan Lensa Nikon AF-S dan AF-D

Nikon AF-S and AF-D Lens Differences

These two lenses may at first glance look the same, but in fact they are different, KEE friends. What's the difference? The main difference is in the focus motor on the lens. Nikon AF-S (Auto Focus Silent) lenses are equipped with a focus motor in the lens body, so when you take a photo you can still use auto focus even though the camera body doesn't have a focus motor. Meanwhile, AF-D (Auto Focus Distance) lenses do not have a focus motor on the lens body. So if you want to use autofocus, your camera body must have a focus motor.

Usually on Nikon beginner camera types, some do not have a focus motor to reduce the selling price of the camera. For example, the Nikon D3100, D3200, D3300, D5100, D5200, D5300, and D5500 cameras.

The advantage of AF-S lenses is that you can use the autofocus feature even though your camera body does not have a focus motor. But you can still use AF-D lenses if you like manual focus or your photo needs are for product photos or still life that don't require autofocus. Apart from that, AF-D lenses are widely used for video recording needs, because many use manual focus. However, if your photo needs to capture fast moments such as sports or events, it is recommended to use an AF-S lens.
